A growing family with teenagers needed their home to evolve with them, but their existing outdoor space was holding them back. The timber-framed pergola offered little protection from the elements, creating a wind tunnel effect and poor drainage that left the area unusable for much of the year. A crucial consideration was maintaining natural light in the existing dining and living areas while connecting the house to the double garage and satisfying the insatiable entertaining needs of this family.

The Transformation:

Through thoughtful design and innovative solutions, we transformed this challenging space into a sophisticated indoor/outdoor haven. The centerpiece of the renovation is a stunning custom skylight that runs wall-to-wall, preserving and enhancing the natural light flow throughout both the existing home and the new garden room and entertainment area.

The design seamlessly integrates form and function. A carefully considered brick wall elevation houses the BBQ and alfresco rangehood, while the ceiling line, originating from the existing eve level, incorporates a practical box gutter solution. The space features elegant V-join walls in sophisticated black, complemented by contrasting white windows and doors that frame the garden views beyond.The mini kitchen and BBQ area now serves as a natural connection between the house and the alfresco dining space, creating an effortless flow for entertaining. The thoughtful color scheme allows the walls to recede, while the large white windows and doors create a striking contrast with the lush garden outside.
